In a statement, the SSGC said the supply of gas had been suspended from the CNG sector with the aim of managing the additional winter burden of domestic customers.
It has been decided to suspend the supply of gas to all CNG stations in Sindh and Balochistan from December 1, 2021 (8:00 am) until February 15, 2022 (10:00 pm), the statement said.
The decision was taken in line with the Petroleum Division's gas-regulated plan, which puts domestic and commercial customers at the top of the gas industry list, the statement said.
The decision to suspend supply of the gas to CNG sector was taken to make gas available to domestic and commercial industry during the current winter season which has seen a huge increase in demand especially in Balochistan which is already experiencing a cold winter, the statement said. it said.
The supply of gas to all the Captive Power Plant (CPP) for export industries was cut off last Friday until an order was issued due to the growing winter, the statement said.
The statement, however, added that all general industries, zero-export industries including its CPPs and the fertilizer sector would continue to receive gas.
Reduced gas volumes from suspension to CPP of non-export units and the CNG sector will be transferred to domestic customers so that they can supply their improved gas from the winter season, the SSGC said.
"It may be noted that in Balochistan, additional gas supply is needed to sustain human life as gas acts as a way of life for many people who have to keep themselves warm with water and heating systems at very low temperatures," the statement said.
